This CSL Agency is based around the hyper-important first 7 days after a cosmetic procedure or treatment. The Incisional Drainage agency outlines best professional practices for the CSL Therapy organization creating structure, regulating treatments, identifying competencies and skills needed to provide these services, and licensure.
The modality of Incisional Drainage differs from that of Ambi Massage, lymphatic massage, or any of the mis-nomenclatured approaches. CSL Incisional Drainage is a standardized approach to working with clients who have active incisions after a procedure. It outlines:
- Who can provide these treatments
- Protocols to be followed
- Hygiene, wound care, and PPE needed
- Sanitation and proper disposal of biohazard materials that follow OSHA and HIPAA laws
- When treatments should be stopped
- Including clients in on their treatments, educating them and how to “Announce Steps” as the provider moves through the treatment
- SOP on receiving informed consent to provide services, including but not limited to SOAP noting, media release forms for pre and post documenting photos, and measurement
- CSL quipping during the session to educate clientele with accurate information
- KT tape application and removal certification requirements
- Recommended frequency of treatments based on procedures
What is Incisional Drainage?
Incisional drainage services are treatments done from day one to day seven postOp. They are the treatments provided to clients after cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures before a client transitions into PostOp-Indur services. Clients start off by laying prone or supine on a massage table, having their entire lymphatic system stimulated either with light feather-based lymphatic massage strokes and techniques or with a light gentle dry brushing, skipping over any fat transferred areas. Clients are postured in disposable undergarments and properly draped; if standing, client has draping covering their top and bottom areas along with their disposable garments. Since client’s are right out of surgery, it is common for their incisions to still be open. Incisional drainage teaches:
- How to position someone based on their procedure type day 1-7 postOp
- Working with active incisions
- Cleansing the clients dermal areas before, during, and after treatments
- Direction and stroke pressure gradients in conjunction with their body presentation and procedure
- How to read a clients body to build customized competent protocols
- Proper PPE coverage needed for provider and draping for clients
- Safety and hygiene measures
- How to conduct pre and post treatment evaluations
- Materials needed to provide services
- Tools, equipment, and machines that can be safely integrated into sessions
- Contraindication & Complication protocols
- Externally working with the lymphatic system and gravitational pulls, balancing pressure applied and frequency to achieve desired results
- How to assess and adjust clients expectations safely within scope of practice
- Working with drains + cleansing and declogging coagulated tissue clumps
The CSL Therapy Incisional Drainage Agency is excited to start cleaning up the misinformation that has flooded the Body Altering Aesthetics Industry over the last decade, focusing on infusing health, compassion, research, and science back into the elective treatment space.
