Cellulitis

A bacterial skin infection that affects the deeper layers of the skin and the underlying tissue. It is characterized by redness, swelling, warmth, and pain at the site of infection. This condition can occur anywhere on the body but commonly affects the legs and fat grafted areas such as the gluteal and mammary regions [from overstuffing or just an unfortunate breakdown of dermal protective immune barriers]. If left untreated, it can spread rapidly and lead to serious complications. Treatment typically involves antibiotics to clear the infection and may also include supportive measures such as rest and elevation of the affected area.
