Certificant Provider Code of Ethics

ACBAA Certificant Providers and applicants for CSL Provider status shall act in a manner that justifies professional trust and confidence, enhances the education of continuing education student, and safeguards the interest of each individual in the classroom. CSL Providers and applicants for Provider status will:

  1. Demonstrate a genuine dedication to delivering the most exceptional standard of education to individuals seeking their professional services.

  2. Honestly present their qualifications, including education and professional associations, and only teach courses for which they possess the necessary qualifications.

  3. Provide accurate information to both students and the profession regarding the extent and limitations of their continuing education courses.

  4. Acknowledge the restrictions and contradictions associated with massage and bodywork in each specific modality.

  5. Consistently enhance their professional knowledge and competency, striving for professional excellence through regular self-assessment of their strengths and weaknesses, student evaluations, and continued education training.

  6. Conduct their professional and business activities with integrity and honesty, while valuing the worth of all individuals.

  7. Refrain from any unjust discrimination against students.

  8. Ensure the confidentiality of all student information, unless disclosure is required by the student in writing, medically necessary, legally required, or essential for public protection.

  9. Provide safe, comfortable, and private draping and treatment to all students.

  10. Under all circumstances, avoid initiating or engaging in sexual conduct, activities, or behavior that sexualizes a student, even if the student attempts to sexualize the relationship, unless a pre-existing relationship exists between the CSL Provider and the student prior to the student’s class attendance.

  11. Avoid any conflicts of interest, activities, or influences that may undermine the CSL Provider’s obligation to act in the best interests of students or the profession.

  12. Honor the student’s privacy, disclosure, exposure, emotional expression, beliefs, and reasonable expectations of professional conduct. The CSL Providers will respect the student’s autonomy.

  13. Refuse any gifts or benefits that are intended to influence grades, decisions, attendance, or that are purely for personal gain.

  14. Adhere to the ACBAA CSL Provider Standards of Practice, this CSL Provider Code of Ethics, and all policies, procedures, guidelines, regulations, codes, and requirements established by the American Council of Body Altering Aesthetics.
